Ghana, Africa

Dr med. dent. Philipp Schneider heads up the program in Ghana. He is ably assisted by the project supervisor Dr Chakib Taleb and local specialists. They carry out treatments as well as education and awareness-building activities. Furthermore, they train the outreach team and local specialists and oversee the technical and organizational aspects of the assignments.

The focus of this project is on the collaboration with the Richard Novati Catholic Hospital (RNCH) in Sogakofe, a small town in south-eastern Ghana. This setting serves as a base for our outreach team. Ivoclar Joy’s aim here is to establish a professional and efficient workflow between the clinic and the laboratory while minimizing product wastage caused by poor working techniques or lack of expertise.

Thanks to the generous donation and establishment of a laboratory by Zurich master dental technician Hans-Peter Spielmann, modern dental technical work can now be carried out on-site, building on the knowledge imparted by our project leaders, and future African specialists can be trained.

Our prevention program in the form of training and awareness-building activities is being implemented by several schools, including a school for children with special needs. Our educational work focuses on the following topics: maintaining a healthy diet, avoiding sugary foods, learning to brush teeth properly as well as recognizing the importance of regular dental check-ups.
